When I was choosing what programs to apply to for university (and thus the rest of my life), I had to decide between computers and biology. I ultimately chose computers, but I still really like biology and science. That is why I’m writing this post.

Today is the first annual Blog Action Day. Thousands of bloggers around the word are writing posts related to the environment and global warming. The environment is something I’ve always liked and I don’t want to see it destroyed. Most people think that it shouldn’t be up to us to save the environment, and that our governments and political leaders should lead the charge. They certainly should do something, but simply relying on them won’t get us anywhere. The government often sets timetables and priorities that will take years to be met and by then, it may be too late.
We may never be able reverse the damage we have done, but we can at least stop more damage from being done. Simple things such as driving hybrids or cutting back on the driving, changing light bulbs to compact fluoresents, and cutting back on the garbage you produce can all help. Every little bit is important and can help our planet and our society get better and deal with the issue at hand.
