Text Link Ads

Posted by Peter on March 2nd, 2008

I signed up for Text Link Ads a few months ago, but I don’t think I ever actually put any ads on my site. At least I don’t have any now. But the weird thing is, in January I made $3.75 (US) and in February $7.50. I made money without even having any ads on my site! Sweet! Now why don’t all ad services work like this? UPDATE: Nevermind. I do have ads on here- I forgot they were there.

Blog Action Day 2007

Posted by Peter on October 15th, 2007

When I was choosing what programs to apply to for university (and thus the rest of my life), I had to decide between computers and biology. I ultimately chose computers, but I still really like biology and science. That is why I’m writing this post.

Bloggers Unite - Blog Action Day

Today is the first annual Blog Action Day. Thousands of bloggers around the word are writing posts related to the environment and global warming. The environment is something I’ve always liked and I don’t want to see it destroyed. Most people think that it shouldn’t be up to us to save the environment, and that our governments and political leaders should lead the charge. They certainly should do something, but simply relying on them won’t get us anywhere. The government often sets timetables and priorities that will take years to be met and by then, it may be too late.

We may never be able reverse the damage we have done, but we can at least stop more damage from being done. Simple things such as driving hybrids or cutting back on the driving, changing light bulbs to compact fluoresents, and cutting back on the garbage you produce can all help. Every little bit is important and can help our planet and our society get better and deal with the issue at hand.

Now go make Al Gore proud and save the environment!

Harry Potter Hits the Tubes, Fans Cry in Anguish!!

Posted by Peter on July 19th, 2007

Oh no!!! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in on the internet before the book is released!! Oh no!! The world is over!!At least thats what some fans of the ever popular wizard think. On Tuesday (or late Monday), images of every single page of the 7th and final book in the series began making their way onto BitTorrent sites. Someone, likely a book store or publisher employee, managed to steal a copy and then proceeded to take pictures and upload them. While the pictures weren’t 100% readable, they were still fairly understandable. Of course some people would argue that this probably isn’t the real thing, but it appears to be legit. Fans say that the writing style fits author J.K. Rowling, and I don’t think someone would go through the trouble of writing something near 700 pages and make up a fake book to trick a bunch of teenagers, kids, and even adults. In case you can’t wait until 12:01 am on Saturday to get the real thing, and you don’t want to kill your eyes reading blurry images, Potter fans have joined together to transpose the pictures into a readable pdf.

The (not so?) weird thing is, some fans are all upset, saying this is going to ruin the surprise. If you don’t want to know, don’t download it! Most sites won’t put the big secrets about who dies and who lives on the front page. They likely won’t even publish it, and if they do they’ll warn you first. So stop crying. This isn’t going to ruin the surprise if you don’t want it to.

I’m not going to say where you can find the files, but I’m sure if you look hard enough you can find them.

Short on time, and upcoming series

Posted by Peter on July 12th, 2007

I can never seem to find time to blog. I am on summer vacation but with the whole family home I can’t just sit down and work. I’ve decided to allocate myself 1 hour a day to devote solely to this blog. Let’s see how long that lasts. I’m also going to be starting a new series of posts called Blogs I Read. I’ll be starting with Glenn Wolsey, then moving on to other blogs. This series of posts will be starting soon.

Welcome

Posted by Peter on July 15th, 2006

Welcome to my blog. I’ve been meaning to start one for quite some time now. I have started several in the past but they never made it past one or two posts. Well not anymore. Starting today, I’m gonna blog regularly. I figured with going away to university this would be the best way to keep everybody informed of my life. However, this will only be a temporary home. Over the summer I’m going to work on creating a real site with a blog and once thats finished I will buy a domain name and hosting. But until then, this will be my little corner of the web.

Enjoy, and check back regulary.
